At Sognefjellshytta there is established a viewpoint where you can take a stop, stretch your legs, go for a small walk and get an impression of the Jotunheimen National Park.
The hike is about one kilometer, going around the west of Fantesteinvatnet. The walkway and the very spectacular bridge are universally designed to make this accessible to all people, regardless of age, disability or other factors. From the viewpoint, you will have a great view to the mountain massifs like Hurrungane, Smørstabbtindane and Fannaråken. The viewpoint Sognefjellet lies beside of the Norwegian Scenic Route Sognefjellet, which is northern Europe’s highest mountain pass, and runs from Lom to Gaupne, a total distance of 108 km (Road 55).
From the verdant meadows and the lush cultural landscape of Bøverdalen you can catch a glimpse of towering mountains in the far distance, as the road slowly ascends through the valley. It makes its way up to the summit at 1,434 metres.
Winter closed: The mountain road from Liasanden to Turtagrø is normally closed in November and reopens in May. Red flags in the map show where the road will be closed. Opening and closing of scenic routes closed in winter.
